203. A Sprain. 753. Hold the Part in very cold water for two Hours : Tried . 754. Or, apply Cloths dipt therein, four Times doubled, fortwo Hours, changing them as they grow warm : 755. Or, bath it in good Crab- verjuice : 756. Or, ftoop it with one Spoonful of Brandy, two of Vinegar, and four ofWater. 757. Or, boil Bran in Wine Vinegar to a Poultis. Apply this warm , and renew it once in twelve Hours : 758. Or, boil eight Ounces of Caftile. Soap and as much Bay-falt in four Quarts of Water. Put the Partfprained into this for half an Hour ; or, foment with it : 759. Or mix a little Turpentine with Flour and the Yolk of an Egg ; and apply it as a Plaister. This cures in a desperate Cafe. 760. Weakness remaining after a Sprain, is cured byfomenting the Part daily with Beef brine. 761. Suppofe the Ankle fprained, 1. Foment it with warm Vinegar , four or five Minutes every four Hours. 2. Stand if you can , three or four Minutes at a Time on both your Feet, and frequently move the fprained Foot. Sometimes alfo, while fitting with your Foot on a low Stool, move it to and fro. 3. Let it be gently rubbed with a warm Hand, at least thrice a Day. 4. Two Hours after every Application of the Vinegar, let it be just wetted with Spirits ofWine, and then gently rubbed. 204. AVenom- 204. A venomous Sting. 762. Apply a little Venice Treacle : 763. Or, a Poultis of bruised Plantane and Honey : 764. Or, take inwardly, one Dram of black Currant-Leaves powder'd. It is an excellent Counterpoison. 205. The Sting ofa Bee. 765. Apply Honey. 206. The Sting ofa Nettle. 766. Rub the Part with Juice ofNettles. 207. The Sting of a Wafp. 767. Rub the Part with bruifed Leaves of Houfe leek. 768. Or, ofWater-Creffes : 769. Or, of Rue : 770. Or, apply Venice Treacle : 771. Or, Common Treacle : 772. Or, bruifed Onions. 208. The Sting of a Bee or Wafp in the Eye. 773. Apply Carduus bruifed, with the White of an Egg: Renew it if it grows dry.
