Lord of lords, shall soon appear : Mark the tokens Of his heavenly kingdom near! 2 Close behind the tribulation Of the last tremendous days, See the flaming revelation, See the universal blaze ! Earth and heaven Melt before the Judge's face ! 3 Sun and moon are both confounded, Darken'd into endless night, When, with angel-hosts surrounded, In his Father's glory bright, Beams the Saviour, Shines the everlasting Light. 4 See the stars from heaven falling, Hark on earth the doleful cry, Men on rocks and mountains calling, While the frowning Judge draws nigh, " Hide us, hide us, Rocks and mountains, from his eye !" 5 With what different exclamation Shall the saints his banner see ! By the tokens of his passion, By the marks received for me, All discern him, All with shouts crv out, " Tis he!" 65o Time, Death, and 6 Yes, the prize shall then be given, We his open face shall see ; Love, the earnest of our heaven, Love, our full reward shall be ; Love shall crown us Kings through all eternity ! The Saints glorified. 1 /~^ IVE me the wings of faith to rise ^J Within the veil, and see The saints above, how great their joys, How bright their glories be. 2 Once they were mourners here below, And pour'd out cries and tears : They wrestled hard, as we do now, With sins, and doubts, and fears. 3 I ask them whence their victory came : They, with united breath, Ascribe their conquest to the Lamb, Their triumph to his death. 4 They mark'd the footsteps that he trod, His zeal inspired their breast ; And following their incarnate God, Possess the promised rest. 5 Our glorious Leader claims our praise For his own pattern given ; While the long cloud of witnesses Show the same path to heaven HYMN 731.
