They cannot keep a blessing back,
By Heaven design'd for me.
5 Here then I doubt no more,
But in his pleasure rest,
Whose wisdom, love, and truth, and power
Engage to make me blest.
6 To' accomplish his design
The creatures all agree ;
And all the attributes divine
Are now at work for me.

HYMN 676. l. m.
T/ie Beatitudes.
LESS'D are the humble souls that see
Their emptiness and poverty :
Treasures of grace to them are given,
And crowns of joy laid up in heaven.
2 Bless'd are the men of broken heart,
Who mourn for sin with inward smart :
The blood of Christ divinely flows,
A healing balm for all their woes.
.'} Bless'd are the souls that long for grace,
Hunger and thirst for righteousness :
They shall be well supplied and fed,
With living streams, and living bread.
4 Bless'd are the pure, whose hearts are clean
From the defiling power of sin :
With endless pleasure they shall see
The God of spotless purity.
5 Bless'd are the sufferers, who partake
Of pain and shame for Jesu's sake :
Their souls shall triumph in the Lord ;
Glory and joy are their reward.
6 These are the men, the holy race,
Who seek the God of Jacob's face ;
These shall enjoy that blissful sight,
And dwell in everlasting light.
HYMN 677. s. m.
" As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so
the Lord is round about his people."
] ^TSTHO in the Lord confide,
' ▼ And feel his sprinkled blood,
Tn storms and hurricanes abide,
Firm as the mount of God :

Steadfast, and fix'd, and sure,
His Sion cannot move ;
His faithful people stand secure
In Jesu's guardian love.
2 As round Jerusalem
The hilly bulwarks rise,
So God protects and covers them
From all their enemies.
On every side he stands,
And for his Israel cares ;
And safe in his almighty hands
Their souls for ever bears.
3 But let them still abide
In thee, all-gracious Lord,
Till every soul is sanctified,
And perfectly restored :
The men of heart sincere
Continue to defend ;
And do them good, and save them here,
And love them to the end.
