Throned with thy Sire, through half the round
Of vast eternity.
2 Let heaven and earth's stupendous frame
Display their Author's power,
And each exalted seraph-flame,
Creator, thee adore.
Sufferings, fyc, of Christ. ODD
3 Thy wondrous love the Godhead show'd
Contracted to a span, --
The co-eternal Son of God,
The mortal Son of man.
4 To save us from our lost estate,
Behold his life-blood stream :
Hail, Lord, almighty to create,
Almighty to redeem !
5 The Mediator's God-like sway
His church below sustains ;
Till nature shall her Judge survey,
The King Messiah reigns.
6 Hail, with essential glory crown'd,
When time shall cease to be ;
Throned with thy Father, through the round
Of whole eternity.
HYMN 602. 7's.
The Incarnation of Christ.
1 TTARK, the herald-angels sing
*- ■*- Glory to the new-born King,
il Peace on earth, and mercy mild ;
God and sinners reconciled."
2 Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord,
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
3 Veil'd in flesh the Godhead see ;
Hail the' incarnate Deity !
Pleased as man with men to' appear,
Jesus our Immanuel here.
4 Hail the heaven -born Prince of Peace,
Hail the Sun of Righteousness !
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings,
OOO Incarnation,
5 Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die ;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Bom to give them second birth.
6 Come, Desire of Nations, come,
Fix in us thy humble home ;
Rise, the woman's conquering Seed,
Bruise in us the Serpent's head.
7 Adam's likeness now efface,
Stamp thine image in its place :
Second Adam from above,
Re-instate us in thy love.
HYMN 603. 79s §■ 6'*.
The same.
1 /CELEBRATE Immanuel's name,
V-> The Prince of life and peace ;
God with us, our lips proclaim,
Our faithful hearts confess :
God is in our flesh reveal'd ;
Earth and heaven in Jesus join ;
Mortal with immortal fill'd,
And human with divine.
2 Fulness of the Deity
In Jesu's bodv dwells,
Dwells in all his saints and me,
When God his Son reveals :
Father, manifest thy Son,
And, conscious of the' incarnate Word,
In our inmost souls make known
The presence of the Lord.
