3 Make us of one heart and mind,
Courteous, pitiful, and kind,
476 For the Society Praying.
Lowly, meek, in thought and word,
Altogether like our Lord.
4 Let us for each other care,
Each the other's harden bear,
To thy church the pattern give,
Show how true believers live.
5 Free from anger and from pride,
Let us thus in God abide ;
All the depths of love express,
All the heights of holiness !
6 Let us then with joy remove
To the family above ;
On the wings of angels fly ;
Show how true believers die.
1 nPHOU God of truth and love,
J- We seek thy perfect way,
Ready thy choice to' approve,
Thy providence to' obey ;
Enter into thy wise design,
And sweetly lose our will in thine.
2 Why hast thou cast our lot
In the same age and place ?
And why together brought
To see each other's face ?
To join with softest sympathy,
And mix our friendly souls in thee?
3 Didst thou not make us one,
That we might one remain,
Together travel on,
And bear each other's pain ;
Till all thy utmost goodness prove,
And rise renew'd in perfect love ?
For the Society Praying. 477
4 Surelv thou didst unite
Our kindred spirits here,
That all hereafter might
Before thy throne appear;
Meet at the marriage of the Lamb,
And all thy glorious love proclaim.
5 Then let us ever hear
The blessed end in view,
And join, with mutual care,
To fight our passage through ;
And kindly help each other on,
Till all receive the starry crown.
6 O may thy Spirit seal
Our souls unto that day,
With all thy fulness fill,
And then transport away !
Away to our eternal rest,
Away to our Redeemer's breast !
HYMN 511. 6-8' s.
1 T^ORGIVE us, for thy mercy's sake,
-*- Our multitude of sins forgive !
And for thy own possession take,
And bid us to thy glory live ;
Live in thy sight, and gladly prove
Our faith, by our obedient love.
2 The cov'nant of forgiveness seal,
And all thy mighty wonders show !
Our inbred enemies expel ;
And conquering them to conquer go,
Till all of pride and wrath be slain.
And not one evil thought remain !
3 O put it in our inward parts,
