4 All are not lost, or wander'd back ;
All have not left thy Church and Thee :
There are who suffer for thy sake,
Enjoy thy glorious infamy,
Esteem the scandal of the cross,
And only seek divine applause.
5 Thou who hast kept us to this hour,
O keep us faithful to the end !
When, robed with majesty and poweT,
Our Jesus shall from heaven descend,
His friends and confessors to own,
And seat us on his glorious throne.
HYMN 484. HfrfrU'*.
1 A PPOINTED by thee, We meet in thy name,
^*- And meekly agree To follow the Lamb,
To trace thy example, The world to disdain,
And constantly trample On pleasure and pain.
2 Rejoicing in hope, We humbly go on,
And daily take up The pledge of our crown ;
In doing and bearing The will of our Lord,
We still are preparing To meet our reward
For the Society on Meeting. 4oo
3 O Jesus, appear ! No longer delay
To sanctify here, And bear us away :
The end of our meeting On earth let us see,
Triumphantly sitting In glory with thee !
HYMN 485. s. m.
1 TESU, we look to thee,
J Thy promised presence claim !
Thou in the midst of us shalt be,
Assembled in thy name :
Thy name salvation is,
Which here we come to prove ;
Thy name is life, and health, and peace,
And everlasting love.
2 Not in the name of pride
Or selfishness we meet ;
From nature's paths we turn aside,
And worldly thoughts forget,
We meet, the grace to take
Which thou hast freely given ;
We meet on earth for thy dear sake,
That we may meet in heaven.
3 Present we know thou art ;
But, O, thyself reveal !
Now, Lord, let every bounding heart
The mighty comfort feel !
O may thy quick'ning voice
The death of sin remove ;
And bid our inmost souls rejoice
In hope of perfect love !
HYMN 486. c. m.
1 tJEE, Jesus, thy disciples see,
^ The promised blessing give !
Met in thy name, we look to thee,
Expecting to receive.
4o4 For the Society on Meeting'.
2 Thee we expect, our faithful Lord,
Who in thy name are join'd ;
We wait, according to thy word,
Thee in the midst to find.
