4 A heart in every thought renew'd,
And full of love divine ;
Perfect, and right, and pure, and good,
A copy, Lord, of thine !
5 Thy tender heart is still the same,
And melts at human woe :
Jesus, for thee distress'd I am,
I want thy love to know.
6 My heart, thou know'st, can never rest,
Till thou create my peace ;
Till, of my Eden re-possest,
From every sin I cease.
7 Fruit of thy gracious lips, on me
Bestow that peace unknown,
The hidden manna, and the tree
Of life, and the white stone.
Seeking for full Redemption. o*ZO
8 Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart ;
Come quickly from above ;
Write thy new name upon my heart,
Thy new, best name of love.
1 r I ^HOU hidden love of God, whose height.
A Whose depth unfathom'd, no man knows ;
I see from far thy beauteous light,
Inly I sigh for thy repose :
My heart is pain'd, nor can it be
At rest, till it finds rest in thee.
2 Thy secret voice invites me still
The sweetness of thy yoke to prove ;
And fain I would ; but though my will
Seems fix'd, yet wide my passions rove ;
Yet hindrances strew all the way ;
I aim at thee, yet from thee stray.
3 'Tis mercy all, that thou hast brought
My mind to seek her peace in thee ;
Yet while I seek, but find thee not ;
No peace my wandering soul shall see ;
O when shall all my wanderings end,
And all my steps to thee-ward tend !
4 Is there a thing beneath the sun
That strives with thee my heart to share ;
All, tear it thence, and reign alone,
The Lord of every motion there !
Then shall my heart from earth be free,
When it hath found repose in thee
5 O hide this self from me, that I
No more, but Christ in me, may live ;
My vile affections crucify,
Nor let one darling lust survive !
o2b Seeking for full Redemption.
In all tilings nothing may I see,
Nothing desire or seek, hut thee !
6 O Love, thy sovereign aid impart,
To save me from low-thoughted care ;
Chase this self-will through all my heart,
