Of him that sits upon the throne ;
And earth and heaven conspire to praise
Jehovah, and his conquering Son.
HYMN 281. 8's&f6's.
ARE there not in the labourer's day
Twelve hours, in which he safely may
His calling's work pursue ?
Though sin and Satan still are near,
Nor sin nor Satan can 1 fear,
With Jesus in my view.

2 Not all the powers of hell can fright
A soul that walks with Christ in light :
He walks, and cannot fall ;
Clearly he sees, and wins his way,
Shining unto the perfect day,
And more than conquers all.
3 Light of the world ! thy beams I bless !
On thee, bright Sun of Righteousness,
My faith hath fix'd its eye ;
Guided by thee, through all I go,
Nor fear the ruin spread below,
For thou art always nigh.
4 Ten thousand snares my paths beset ;
Yet will I, Lord, the work complete,
Which thou to me hast given ;
Regardless of the pains I feel,
Close by the gates of death and hell,
I urge my way to heaven.
5 Still will I strive, and labour still
With humble zeal, to do thy will,
And trust in thy defence :
My soul into thy hands I give ;
And, if he can obtain thy leave,
Let Satan pluck me thence !
HYMN 282. 8's8f6's.
BUT can it be, that I should prove
For ever faithful to thy love,
From sin for ever cease ?
I thank thee for the blessed hope ;
It lifts my drooping spirits up,
It gives me back my peace.

2 In thee, O Lord, I put my trust,
Mighty, and merciful, and just ;
Thy sacred word is past ;
And I, who dare thy word receive,
Without committing sin shall live,
Shall live to God at last.
3 I rest in thine almighty power ;
The name of Jesus is a tower,
That hides my life above :
Thou canst, thou wilt my Helper be ;
My confidence is all in thee,
The faithful God of Love.
4 While still to thee for help I call,
Thou wilt not suffer me to fall,
Thou canst not let me sin ;
And thou shalt give me power to pray,
Till all my sins are purged away,
