1 r^OME, O thou all-victorious Lord,
^--/ Thy power to us make known ;
Strike with the hammer of thy word,
And break these hearts of stone !
2 O that we all might now begin
Our foolishness to mourn ;
And turn at once from every sin,
And to our Saviour turn !
3 Give us ourselves and thee to know,
In this our gracious day ;
Repentance unto life bestow,
And take our sins away.
4 Conclude us first in unbelief,
And freely then release ;
Fill every soul with sacred grief,
And then with sacred peace.
5 Impoverish, Lord, and then relieve,
And then enrich the poor ;
The knowledge of our sickness give ;
The knowledge of our cure.
6 That blessed sense of guilt impart,
And then remove the load ;
Trouble, and wash the troubled heart
In the atoning blood.
7 Our desperate state through sin declare,
And speak our sins forgiven ;
By perfect holiness prepare,
And take us up to heaven.
Hb Praying for a Blessing.
HYMN 85. s. m.
1 OPIR1T of Faith, come down,
^ Reveal the things of God ;
And make to us the Godhead known,
And witness with the blood :
'Tis thine the blood to' apply,
And give us eyes to see,
Who did for every sinner die,
Hath surely died for me.
2 No man can truly say
That Jesus is the Lord,
Unless thou take the veil away,
And breathe the living word :
Then, only then, we feel
Our interest in his blood,
And cry, with joy unspeakable,
" Thou art my Lord, my God ! '
3 O that the world might know
The all-atoning Lamb !
Spirit of faith ! descend, and show
The virtue of his name :
The grace which all may find,
The saving power, impart ;
And testify to all mankind,
And speak in every heart.
4 Inspire the living faith,
Which whosoe'er receives,
The witness in himself he hath,
And consciously believes ;
The faith that conquers all,
And doth the mountain move,
And saves whoe'er on Jesus call,
And perfects them in love.
Praying for a Blessing. 87
HYMN 86. 2-6** §■ 4-7's.
1 DINNERS, your hearts lift up,
^ Partakers of your hope !
This, the day of Pentecost ;
Ask, and ye shall all receive ;
Surely now the Holy Ghost
