Peter had no thought of any absolute reprobation even in the case of Simon Magus. “They are without excuse; because when they knew God, they glorified him not as God--wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness--who changed the truth of God into a lie.-- For this cause God gave them up to vile affections.--As they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” (Rom. i. 20, &c.) “Them that perish, because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, to believe a lie; that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thess. ii. 10, &c.) 20.
