To Mrs. Charles Wesley MACCLESFIELDD, Friday, April 4, 1788. DEAR SISTER, Half an hour ago I received a letter from Mr. Bradburn informing me of my brother's death. Charles Wesley died on March 29. See letter of April 12 to her. For eleven or twelve days before, I had not one line concerning him. The last I had was from Charles, which I delayed to answer, expecting every day to receive some further information. We have only now to learn that great lesson, 'The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord!' If it had been necessary, in order to serve either him or you, I should not have thought much of coming up to London. Indeed, to serve you, or your dear family, in anything that is in my power, will always be a pleasure to, dear sister, Your affectionate friend and brother.
